2008/05/09
LG Electronics Japan and PRADA announced that they will launch the full-sized touch screen mobile phone “PRADA Phone by LG(”L852i”) for the Japanese market. It will be launched in June from NTT DoCoMo and the price will be released soon.
The “PRADA Phone by LG” shipped in the European market last March, then into 44 countries such as the US and Thailand with a total of eight hundred thousand units sold. The shipment in Japan was delayed for one year. Mr. Chang Ma, Vice President of Mobile Communications Overseas Marketing Division at LG Electronics, said, “(instead of focusing on the shipment delay) we have made a high quality product for the Japanese market, which has very high consumer demand.”

The “PRADA Phone” has a 3” touch screen and no keypad. Users will have to input all information such as phone numbers and letters by using the touch screen. We can feel a small vibration when we touch the screen. It can recognize the pressure of our finger or nail and we can draw a line that reflects our finger pressure level. A stylus is also available.
The “PRADA Phone” has a 2 mega pixel CMOS camera with 2x digital zoom. In addition, it is available for 3G, HSDPA and also has a full browser. It has 2GB of memory and a Micro SD slot. The size of the phone is W54×D101×H12.7mm and it weighs 92g. There is also a leather case available for the phone.
Mr. Giacomo Ovidi, Director of Business Development at Prada emphasized that the “PRADA Phone is different from any other mobile phones in its exterior and its operation. We provide new experiences to users that they were not able to experience with other mobiles.”
